Craftsmanship and Quality Take More Time. Archadeck of West Central & Southwest Ohio is Worth the Wait

Deck with seating

If you want a deck, patio or porch that’s custom designed for your home and built specifically to suit your needs, call Archadeck of West Central & Southwest Ohio. If you would rather have a deck that looks like a thousand other decks – and thrown together quickly – you will need to find another company to deliver it.

You’re probably familiar with the expression, “They don’t build ‘em like they used to.” That is true about so many things. These days it’s hard to find the craftsmanship that our grandparents or great-grandparents took for granted. Today, everyone is in a hurry; they want it fast and they want it cheap. No wonder online shopping is so popular now. A few clicks and you’ve placed your order. A day or two and your purchases arrive on your doorstep.

Archadeck, however, is still designing and building decks and other outdoor living spaces in the Dayton and Cincinnati areas the old-fashioned way. You can’t click on one of our decks or porches and have it delivered in a few days. Why do we cling to the old ways? For us, it’s about quality; about producing a structure that will last; and about designing a custom outdoor living space to fit one home: the one we’re working on now.

At Archadeck of West Central & Southwest Ohio, we take our time because we want to get it right the first time. I don’t mean to imply we’re intentionally slow-moving. That is not the case. But it takes a little more time to meet with the client and listen as they describe the deck of their dreams … or screened porch … or patio. We take the time to ask enough questions to get a very good feeling for what the client wants us to build. We look at their home and talk about what materials for their new structure would blend best with their home. We walk the client through various options for materials, colors and amenities to be included in their custom outdoor living space.

So that’s one thing we do the old-fashioned way – designing your outdoor living space so it meets your needs perfectly. When we build your structure it will be one of a kind, unique to your home, designed to fit your landscape and your personal needs and tastes. We have actual 3-D architectural plans drawn up by our drafting department. Then, we also build your project the old-fashioned way. No shortcuts. Archadeck follows high-quality building standards that meet or exceed local building codes.

“What about those new-fangled materials, the composite and synthetic decking boards, and the manufactured pavers? Those aren’t made the old-fashioned way.” You’re right, they’re not. Technology has given us more options for building materials and therefore more ways to customize your project for you. Many of our clients prefer old-fashioned materials such as wood for decks. Whether you select traditional materials or those that are newly engineered, we still build your Dayton deck the old fashioned way. Quality craftsmanship is one of the things we’re known for.

Our careful design and high-quality work will take a bit longer than that of a slap-and-dash builder. We also take the time to obtain the proper building permits and special-order materials. When needed, we can help you obtain variances and HOA approval, too. Following the proper channels means the job may take a little longer, but once again, you know it will be done right. You don’t want the county’s building inspector coming in to say something has to be redone because it wasn’t permitted appropriately.

Workers building a deck

Outdoor living spaces don’t really come off the assembly line in a factory (unless perhaps you’re talking about a gazebo, a simple pergola or a trellis from a kit). But picture yourself buying a dining room table. You have several options. Many companies sell tables and chairs online. They are built in a factory, delivered to your doorstep in a box, with assembly (by you) required. Another option would be the discount furniture stores around town. When you purchase your furniture from these stores, you know it’s factory-built and not necessarily made to last long. You probably won’t pass this furniture down to your children or grandchildren. The best thing about this kind of furniture is that you can have it quickly.

In contrast, you could go to Amish country and arrange for a piece of furniture to be handmade – custom made – for you. You know the reputation for Amish-made furniture means you will have a sturdy, high-quality piece of furniture built with expert design and craftsmanship. It won’t be ready at a moment’s notice. But once you have it, you know it will last a lifetime and become a cherished heirloom.

Our custom structures are like those Amish tables – custom made and built to last. So if you want a deck just like your neighbor’s, go ahead and work with the guy who can start your job tomorrow. If you want a one-of-a-kind space built for years of enjoyment, even if you have to wait for it, Archadeck is your company.

If you are interested in a high-quality, well-crafted deck, three-season room or other outdoor living structure that’s built to last, contact Archadeck of West Central & Southwest Ohio today at (937) 563-4847.
